Pet Beds, Supplies, and Grooming

Welcome to coolpetsupply.com! Our web site is designed to give you information on the ins and outs of pet ownership. Whether it is pet products , pet beds, or grooming supplies, you’ll find the information you need here to make the right choice for your pet. Each pet is an individual, and while there are suggested best practices for certain breeds, no book or expert will know your pet as well as you do. So whether you’re here or somewhere else, take everything you read about pet ownership and ask yourself “will this work for my pet?” If the answer is yes, then by all means try it; but it would be a disservice to your pet to try something you know wouldn’t work with their personality, wants, and needs. If you have any questions about our site, or you have a suggestion, please contact us via email. Who knows, the next time you stop by you could see your question up in our FAQ section.
Pet ownership dates back to antiquity, in fact, cave drawings and ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs both depict pet ownership. Cats were given a high place in Egyptian society, but dogs appear to be the first animal to form a pet relationship with mankind, dating back to the hunter gatherer societies.
The modern dog is considered by experts to be a genetic descendent of the grey wolf. What is impressive is the genetic diversity that has come from that single strain. The idea that a Chihuahua and a Great Dane are brothers genetically may seem absurd at first brush, but their genes say this is the case. Scientists hypothesize that the wolf packs followed the hunter-gatherer society tribes of men, who themselves were following the migratory patterns of herds, such as the buffalo.
There is some debate as to how exactly the grey wolf became domesticated. While tribal mankind provided a steady source of food (the leftovers from their buffalo kills) they were also an apex predator, meaning they were a threat to the wolves as well. The ancient grey wolves could have become desensitized to the presence of men in much the same way pigeons and seagulls have become used to close proximity to modern man. Another theory is that the tribes picked up orphaned wolf cubs, and raised them as the tribe’s own.
Regardless of how it all started, the life of an ancient dog was much different than a modern one. Things such as pet beds and grooming supplies didn’t come to mind in ancient times. Mankind hadn’t even established permanent dwellings, much less creature comforts. Once we did settle down, cats came around to the same conclusion as dogs: maybe we weren’t so bad to hang around after all.
Cats and dogs remain the most popular pets today, and this is quite possibly because they are the animals most likely to choose human company of their own volition. A mouse might live in your house and eat your food, but they’re certainly not after the pleasure of your company. Both cats and dogs show a very real emotional bond with their owners, and that plays a huge part in their popularity. Some pet owners even buy special pet fashion items for their animals like, cat sweaters or rhinestone collars.
